I hear music in the air, I can feel it in the air, There must be a God somewhere
(Lyrics from “Music Down In My Soul”)
This October, an exciting new event is in the works:
The Monroe MusicFest, Saturday, October 3, from 3-9 PM here at MCC
WHAT IS A “MUSICFEST”? The MusicFest will present an eclectic mix of gifted musical performers, right here at MCC. During the course of the MusicFest, performances will be offered at three separate venues: the meetinghouse, the fellowship hall, and Dineson Parlor. These performances will be scheduled simultaneously, with some overlap, so that those attending the MusicFest can pick and choose whichever performances they want to see and hear. A variety of food will be available from food trucks located in the driveway next to the meetinghouse.
WHO WILL BE PERFORMING? Gifted performers from the classical, folk, jazz and “world music” genres are scheduled so far, including some of MCC’s own musical talent and including the Silver Steel Band, jazz vocalist Nicole Pasternak and her trio, cellist Larry Wissink, pianists Danielle Fascione, Donald Alfano and Will Duchon the MCC Folk Band, singer/songwriter Suzanne Vick and , Just Voices. Other groups/performers are still being booked.
WHO IS INVITED? The Monroe MusicFest is an event available to MCC members and friends, of course, but also to the wider community, as a means of affirming MCC as a place where the gift of music is valued, nurtured, and shared.
WHAT ABOUT COSTS? Admission to the MusicFest will be $15 per individual and $30 per family. The Music Committee is also seeking contributions from local businesses to cover costs. Individual contributions from MCC members and friends are also welcome at any level, but a contribution schedule has been created as follows: Bronze-$50, Silver-$100, Gold-$150, Platinum-$200, Business-$300
More announcements and information about the Monroe MusicFest will be coming your way in the weeks ahead. Any questions or comments should be directed to Vaughan Askue, Music Committee Chair or Will Duchon, Music Director.
